Regional rep answers his own questionnaire.
Burning Man – New Orleans
This is a survey from your Regional Burningman Rep.
Hi, I’m Anthony and I just want to get a pulse of the community in New Orleans and see what everyone here wants to do. I look at my position here as more of a facilitator than some high and mighty leader. I don’t want to bring the community anything they don’t want. But we have options and I am trying to get a sense of what everyone wants.
So… if you can please take a few moments to answer the following questions I would certainly appreciate it.
---- Your Information
Name (and/or playa name) Anthony De Cognito
Email address. (particularly if it is different from
the one you received this on) NewOrleans @ burningman.com
My neighborhood is…..Mid-city/Faubourg St. John
How many times have you been to Burningman? (or if you have been at all)
6
What years did you go? 1998-2003
What is your favorite thing on the Playa? Usually my neighbors
Are you connected with a camp or village? Asylum
Village
Isn’t it nice to get out of the humidity in August? Oh
yeah.
----- The Regional Outreach
How did you find out about the regional rep? (Burningman.com? On playa contact? Radio? TV? Figured you would take a shot that someone was at the other end of neworleans @ burningman .com?)
It's been a while, I think I met the previous rep on the Playa. She was my neighbor my first year.
Are you subscribed to Jack Rabbit Speaks (the official email newsletter of Burningman)? Yes, actually I get two of them, which I can't explain.
If not, would you like to know how?
And is it an
important source of information for people in this area? hmmmmm,
there are some good things in it.
Which would describe your attitude to the email you get from the regional rep? Not enough? Too much? Just right? Please take me off this list right now? I can't answer this.. I am the regional rep.
------ Connecting New Orleans
Day to day, week to week, what kind of things would you support as a way to connect to other Burners in the community?
__ A weekly or monthly bar or coffeeshop meeting.
And if so where would you like it to be?
__ A burningman discussion list (where folks would basically discuss amongst themselves via email burningman related topics in a fairly loosely moderated form.)
__ A burningman announce list. (A more top-down approach where items are sent to a moderator to be sent out to the burningman community, which would also include notices of out of town folks who want to meet up with people here. And there are plenty.)
___ Other ideas for getting people together?
Not going to bias any
responses. Though I do think a discussion list would facilitate more
communication.
---- Regional Events
Decompression, recompression and other big parties.
How important is it for you that we host decompressions or other big events tied closely to a Burningman Calendar? I don't want it if you don't want it. I'm not dragging everyone to an event they don't want.
Or does New Orleans have enough parties?
And if it were important to you, to what degrees would you go to to see it happen? (Maybe you have a place, Maybe you are the king or queen of decorating, Maybe hosting parties is your thing?)
Burningman offers films for community viewing, would you be likely to go to one if it were shown here?
Would you bring your friends and/or loved ones?
Have you been to any of the other regional Burns? (Like Austin’s Flipside, Balt-Wash’s Playa Del Fuego, Iowa’s Burning Corn, Chicago’s Syncroncity, Arizona’s Toast) Playa Del Fuego in the mud. It was still fun.
Are you interested in more information about regional Burns?
Would you like to see New Orleans eventually host a regional burn?
Would you be interested in working towards that?
---- Help out!
Is there a Burner you know that isn’t in contact with the regional?
Can you send them this email, or send their email address to neworleans@burningman.com?
